The era of gravitational wave detections is near, and with it the excitement of a new window into many astrophysical phenomena. I will review the anticipated sources, with an emphasis on compact binaries. I will discuss the specific information we will obtain at low frequencies and at high frequencies. I will particularly discuss the substantial improvement in the reach, sensitivity, localization, and duty cycle of the gravitational wave network that would be enabled with AIGO.
